Compact Cylindrical LiPo Battery Internal Structure

The small cylindrical LiPo battery (15330 class, 3.7V nominal) is designed by engineers with a tightly rolled electrode structure within a sealed metal cylinder. They initially laminate cathode foil, anode foil, and separator film into a continuous strip and they wind the assembly into a dense spiral core with controlled tension. In the meantime, they keep a high degree of alignment when winding to minimize internal stress distribution. Then, technicians place the completed jelly-roll core into a cylindrical housing that is machined to a high degree of precision and position it in place before the process of filling it with electrolytes commences.

Material System and Electrochemical Composition
