The Toolless Battery Replacement is a multi-cell lithium-ion-based battery that incorporates a smart control system. A pack is assembled by engineers in a series-parallel cell arrangement to stabilize electrical output. The battery management system is an internal system that constantly checks the voltage, current, and temperature. In the meantime, status data is sent over the communication lines using the SMBus protocol to coordinate the system level. Real-time protective logic circuits react to abnormal conditions.

Materials and Cell Structure

The uniformity in electrochemical properties guides the choice of cylindrical lithium-ion cells by manufacturers.
