Overview

Compact Cylindrical Lithium Battery Internal Structure

The small cylindrical lithium battery is produced by engineers who incorporate layered electrode materials into a small miniature cylindrical casing. First, they roll sheets of cathode, separator membranes, and anode layers into a continuous strip format and roll the structure into a dense cylindrical core. In the meantime, technicians control the alignment of winding to ensure equal spacing internally. Then, they place the finished core into a metal casing and stabilize the structure and then electrolyte processing and terminal assembly operations commence.

Raw Material System and Layer Configuration

The cathode layer is made by the manufacturers by applying lithium transition-metal compounds on aluminum current collectors, and the anode layer by applying carbon-based graphite slurry on copper foil. Moreover, they put in place a microporous polymer separator made of polyethylene and polypropylene to retain ionic flow and prevent electrical contact between electrodes. Moreover, they prepare the electrolyte by dissolving lithium salt in carbonate solvents and they check the purity levels during the preparation. In the meantime, the cylindrical shell is made of alloy materials that are resistant to corrosion to ensure strength and accuracy of dimensions of the enclosure.

Electrode Processing and Mechanical Assembly

The electrode slurry is prepared by technicians by controlled mixing of active powders, conductive agents, and polymer binders. Then, they transfer the slurry onto foil substrates using precision coating equipment. They then dry the coated materials in temperature controlled chambers and roll the electrode surfaces by rolling calibration. Once the electrodes are cut into thin strips, they roll the layers into a spiral core and attach conductive tabs using ultrasonic welding technology. Meanwhile, operators check alignment tolerances to prevent disproportionate pressure within the cylindrical structure.

Formation Cycling and Manufacturing Standards

Controlled formation charging and discharging cycles are carried out by engineers to stabilize electrochemical interface layers in the cell. Then, they perform thermal aging tests under controlled environmental conditions to test impedance and voltage stability. Lastly, dimensional inspection, insulation resistance analysis, and sealing verification are done by quality control teams before the release of the products. During the manufacturing process, the manufacturers adhere to the IEC 62133 and UN38.3 standards so that the compact cylindrical lithium battery meets the international structural, electrical and transport safety standards.
