Overview
501040 3.7V Battery Structural Overview
The 501040 3.7V lithium polymer battery is built by engineers with a compact pouch-cell geometry with a specified dimensional standard. They then stack the electrodes in a flat, layered format, with a uniform thickness of the cell body. The cathode, separator, and anode are then stacked by technicians in a predetermined order to ensure even internal spacing. In the meantime, insulation films are placed at the boundary zones to minimize mechanical stress in the process of sealing. Once stacked, the structure undergoes lamination and pouch-forming operations. (Model specification reference: 501040 size (cylindrical naming standard system) about 5×10×40 mm).
Electrode Materials and Internal Chemistry
The cathode is made by the manufacturers by using lithium metal oxide coated on aluminum foil, and the anode is made by using graphite-based carbon material coated on copper foil. Moreover, a microporous polymer separator is inserted between electrodes to allow the transportation of ions but not direct contact. Moreover, the electrolyte is made of lithium salts dissolved in organic carbonate solvents, and care is taken to ensure that moisture is kept at bay during preparation and filling. Meanwhile, the outer enclosure is made of aluminum-plastic laminated film, instead of a rigid metal housing, which is a flexible sealed structure.
Manufacturing Process and Cell Forming
Technicians start with the preparation of electrode slurries, active materials, conductive additives, and polymer binders, and mix them into a homogeneous paste. Then, automated coating machines are used to deposit the slurry onto metal foils with a controlled accuracy of thickness. Calendaring rollers squeeze the electrodes after drying to obtain constant density. The electrodes are then sliced into the desired sizes that fit the 501040 form factor and assembled into layered assemblies. In the meantime, alignment systems constantly check the accuracy of positioning prior to sealing.
Formation Testing and Compliance Standards
Initial charge-discharge cycling is done by engineers to enable electrochemical stability and balance internal interfaces. Subsequently, aging tests measure the stability of voltages and drift in internal resistance with time. Lastly, inspection, electrical verification, and safety testing are sealed. During the production process, the 501040 3.7V battery is in accordance with IEC safety and UN38.3 transport regulations, which guarantee structural integrity, electrical stability, and shipping compliance.
