Battery Swapping Model Gains Momentum Across Chinese Cities

The battery swapping model for new energy vehicles is rapidly expanding nationwide. Since late November, several cities, including Chongqing, Wuhan, Baotou, and Xuzhou, have launched demonstration projects for battery swapping operations. Starting next year, taxis and construction waste trucks using this model will be gradually introduced to the market.

Currently, Hainan and Beijing are the pilot areas for the battery swapping model in my country. Recently, other regions have also shown increased enthusiasm.

On November 26th, Dongfeng Motor Group Co., Ltd. and State Grid Corporation of China signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Wuhan. Dongfeng Motor will work with State Grid to further promote the battery swapping model.

In November, Chongqing Expressway Group and Geely Technology Group signed a cooperation agreement. Geely Technology Group's first batch of highway service area battery swapping demonstration stations will be established in Chongqing expressway service areas, with the first demonstration station expected to begin construction soon.

On December 9th, Baotou City launched an integrated ecological project for the new energy vehicle battery swapping network. The new energy vehicle battery swapping network includes fully automated swapping stations, manual swapping stations, and mini-community swapping stations. Driven by the new energy vehicle battery swapping network ecosystem, Baotou City's buses, taxis, urban logistics vehicles, and sanitation sweepers will further achieve electrification.

Technological Progress and Unified Standards Drive Industry Development

Industry insiders believe that the rapid popularization of battery swapping in various regions recently is mainly due to technological advancements. With the rapid development of domestic battery technology in recent years, battery swapping has gradually gained social trust and is expected to see the introduction of unified standards.

Industry Optimism: Battery Swapping as the Future Trend

The industry is very optimistic about the prospects of battery swapping services. Nie Liang, Chairman of Berton Technology, believes that charging is like a landline phone—it will still exist, but its usage scenarios will decrease; while battery swapping is like a mobile phone—it's very convenient, and more and more users will choose battery swapping in the future.
